Lanre, 17 years old , attempted suicide by almost jumping into Lagoon from the3rd mainland bridge, in Lagos. He was standing on the crash barrier, ready to dive into the lagoon before being held by his legs by a Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS) rider who was said to be on patrol.
According to the RRS rider on regular patrol on the bridge, said someone drew his attention to a lone teenager looking into the Lagoon curiously.
Lanre was taken to their headquarters for further investigations and counseling. He later disclosed that he attempted committing suicide upon losing the 6000 Naira given to by his mother and his mobile phone to street urchins (area boys/hooligans).
Lanre's mother who was in shock upon hearing what had happened, said she had been looking for him after sending him on an errand. Lanre's mother was questioned further.
